A brute who was secretly filmed snarling ‘you’re going to die in my hands’ as he throttled his girlfriend has been jailed for over two years.

Christopher Forrest, 40, forced the 33-year-old woman to endure a terrifying campaign of domestic abuse.

The attacks began when she returned home from shopping and an argument broke out on the driveway of their home in Blantyre, Lanarkshire.

He grabbed her by the hair and pushed her against a wall with his hand around her throat.

Forrest then forced his victim against the rear of a car with enough force to snap the window wiper.

Christopher Forrest, 40, of Ayr, has been jailed for 27 months after subjecting his girlfriend to a horrific campaign of abuse

Forrest was filmed snarling ‘you’re going to die in my hands’ as he throttled his girlfriend

Another eruption of violence saw him grab her by the throat with both hands and strangle her.

Forrest also regularly trawled her social media accounts and accused her of cheating on him with other men.

In another explosion of abuse over money, the thug put both hands around her neck and menaced ‘I don’t care if I go to jail, you are going to die in my hands you wee cow’ as he throttled her.

The terrified victim desperately tried to push him away and mouthed that she could not breathe but the assault continued.

The shocking footage was secretly recorded on a camera in the living room.

Forrest, of Ayr, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted abusing his partner between July 2017 and August 2020.

Sheriff Linda Nicolson ordered him to serve 27 months’ imprisonment. She also placed him on a one year supervision order and a 10 year non-harassment order.

She said: ‘The violence was outrageous and was an attack to the danger of life. The level of violence was appalling.

‘The harm caused to your victim was significant. The severity must be reflected by the court.’

Unpredictable Forrest launched several attacks on his girlfriend and placed his hands around her throat more than once

The court heard the relationship had ended in 2017 but they kept in contact over the Blantyre property.

Describing the final attack, depute fiscal Paul Jamieson said: ‘She said he stood up from the couch and placed both hands around her neck and began to choke her.

‘She said he restricted her breathing and she tried to push him away and mouthed I can’t breathe.

‘At this point she was scared she was going to die and the accused placed his head against her head and said ‘look at me, this is how serious I am’.

‘She felt she was going to pass out after 15 or 20 seconds and the accused suddenly let go and walked away.’

Andy Thomson, defending, said: ‘He has expressed great remorse and his actions were inexcusable and he accepts that. He is realistic of the court’s intentions.’
