TV chiefs wrong-footed by Taylor Swift's non-appearance at Chiefs game

Did Taylor cancel watching Travis at the last minute? Box suite at US Bank Stadium had same TV camera sticker reading ‘Tay’ as at her first match last month – sparking speculation megastar was scheduled to watch NFL star

  • Anticipation was intense that the star would support rumored boyfriend Travis Kelce at a third successive game
  • TV producers even seemed to know where she would sit with a sticker marking the spot
  • But speculation is growing about a late change of plans after she was a no-show for the game in Minneapolis

Taylor Swift left fans, possibly TV producers and even her rumored boyfriend in the lurch when she was a no-show at the Kansas City Chiefs-Minnesota Vikings game today.

Photographers spotted that TV producers had labelled Taylor’s place in the stands with the same sticker used during her previous appearances supporting Travis Kelce.

The orange sticker, complete with the name ‘Tay’ and a target logo, helped TV camera operators find the celebrity spectator when the Chiefs played the Bears last month and for their game against the New York Jets last week.

Anticipation soared about another appearance today but fans were left speculating about a late change of plans when there was no Taylor in the seat set aside for her under the sticker today.

‘Taylor Swift apparently drew the line at Minneapolis,’ tweeted podcaster Dan Hanzus.

Taylor Swift did not show her face at Travis Kelce’s latest game for the Kansas City Chiefs

The TV producers’ sticker was in evidence for Taylor’s appearance at the Bears game at the Arrowhead Stadium last month

It was there again today in Minneapolis with the name ‘Tay’ and the distinctive target logo, but there was not Taylor to show for it

‘Taylor said ‘an away game? Minneapolis? Awww it’s been fun sweetie but no thanks,’ added Megan Gailey.

‘Did I just watch a whole segment of Chiefs highlights without a shot of Taylor Swift???’ tweeted Mike B.

Thousands of fans had flocked to US Bank Stadium to soak up the Swift and Kelce frenzy which has engulfed the NFL in recent weeks.

Yet after she was nowhere to be seen prior to kickoff in Minneapolis, NFL Network reporter Scott Hanson confirmed during Sunday’s game that the pop sensation is not in attendance.

The same stickers were spotted next to Swift’s seat at Arrowhead as she watched Kelce and the Chiefs defeat the Bears last month – the first appearance she made to support Kelce.

Last week, she also made the trip to MetLife Stadium to watch the Chiefs play the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football.

With Swift in attendance, Kansas City won both games – moving to 3-1 on the season.

Despite her no-show on Sunday, Chiefs president has denied that the singer and songwriter’s association with Kelce and Kansas City could have a negative impact on the team.

Mark Donovan rejected claims that the attention Swift brings represents a distraction for Kelce and the team, especially in regard to 34-year-old himself.

‘Travis is a smart team player,’ Donovan said to People. ‘He can handle it and has been very professional.

‘Our locker room has the maturity, leadership and respect to handle it.’

Kelce himself addressed media on Friday and said that he accepts the added media interest that surrounds himself and the pop star.

‘As all the attention comes, it feels like, you know – I was on top of the world after the Super Bowl and right now even more on top of the world now,’ he said.

‘You have got a lot of people that care about Taylor, for good reason. Got to keep living and learning and enjoying the moments.

Swift had attended her new rumored beau’s last two outings for the Chiefs, including at Arrowhead

Kelce lined up against the Vikings without his new rumored flame watching on from the stands

‘We’re learning with the paparazzi taking photos all over the place but it comes with it.

‘I’ve always been pretty good at compartmentalizing and being able to stay focused din this building. I will just keep rolling with that, man.

‘Everybody is having fun with it, whether I think they are overdoing it or not. I know I brought this to myself and I’m fortunate enough to have fun with it. All that really matters is that it isn’t p***ing anyone off, over here at least.’
