Two rowdy seagulls have been terrorising two flatmates by constantly banging on their window for 12 hours a day.

Georgina Gray, 25, and Helen McKeever, 26, are being woken up at 6.30am every day by the gulls, who peck at the window of their Newcastle flat morning, noon and night.

Footage of the anti-social seabirds taken by nurse Georgina shows them angrily peering through the window while banging on the glass and squawking loudly.

The disgruntled pair have tried everything to get rid of the annoying animals, including putting pictures of cats at the window and setting down anti-bird spikes.

Georgina, who has lived in the flat with dentist Helen for two years, said: ‘Even that didn’t stop them, they just kicked them off.

‘We don’t know what they want. They just sit there all day, it’s like some sort of horror film.

‘Helen has squared up to them before, but they aren’t fazed, they come back every day at half 6 on the dot, it’s an absolute nightmare.

‘I’ve contacted the council, but they’re a protected species and they won’t do anything when it’s a noise complaint.

‘I even googled how long seagulls live for hoping that they might just die because we are demented, but they live for 20 years.’

The noisy duo showed up at the flat at the start of March and have appeared every day since.

‘I don’t know where they came from. I come from a seaside town and I never had any issues with seagulls until I moved to the city.

‘One showed up and then the second one started to appear as well. I don’t know what they want or what they’re trying to do but it’s so annoying.

‘They peck so hard sometimes I think the glass is going to shatter, I keep imagining coming home one day and the window will be broke and they’ll be inside causing havoc.

‘If that happens, if they get in, I’m leaving straight away, I’d just let them have the flat, they’re menacing!’

The flatmates said it was ‘like a horror film’ being menaced by the noisy birds every day

Georgina, who is currently off work with a broken leg, is being driven mad by the constant noise.

She said: ‘It would be funny if it wasn’t constant, but it’s really loud and we really don’t know what else we can do.

‘I really hope they don’t have a nest. Last thing we need is more of them.

‘Any suggestions on how to get rid of them are welcome.’
