UK weather: Yellow rain warning hits TODAY with travel chaos & floods – but clear skies and sunshine aren't far away | The Sun

BRITS are braced for travel chaos and floods after a yellow rain warning hit parts of the country today.

The Met Office have issued the weather warning as wet and windy conditions threaten to cause disruption.

Forecasters have confirmed the yellow warning for rain is in force for parts of western Scotland today.

The notice came into effect from 6am today and will last until 9pm tonight.

It applies to those in north western areas of Glasgow, Fort William and surrounding towns.

Meteorologists state Brits affected can expect "homes and businesses flooded and damage to some buildings" in addition to "danger to life from fast flowing or deep floodwater".

Locals in these areas face the risk of some additional flooding and transport disruption.

Road closures are forecast to cause traffic chaos as "spray and flooding" will lead to "difficult driving conditions".

Soggy weather conditions are also predicted to wreak havoc on journey times, with delays and cancellations to public transport services likely.

The Met Office added that "clear spells and blustery showers" would follow further north tonight.

And Southern England could see decent conditions with fog patches predicted.

But the wet weather won't last forever with clearer skies on the horizon for Brits, say meteorologists.

On Wednesday, rain is expected to move south across England and Wales, while other parts of the UK will see sunshine and blustery showers.

The forecast said the weather will be taking a “cooler” turn from Wednesday onwards.

Rainy weather is set to give way to clear skies by the end of the week as a brighter weekend has been forecast.

The Met Office say that the weather will be "mostly fine" come Thursday.

The five day weather forecast added that the north would see "sunshine" on Friday despite conditions "turning colder".
