Urgent manhunt as armed robber escapes prison and cops warn 'do NOT approach' | The Sun

AN urgent manhunt is on for an armed robber who escaped prison.

Police are warning the public not to approach Nicholas Doyley, 47, who broke free from HMP Springhill, Buckinghamshire, on Saturday.

Thames Valley Police are now hunting Doyley, who has links to Lewisham and Southwark, and has a scar on the left side of his head.

Doyley was imprisoned in 2019 after he stormed a shop in Lewisham with another suspect and pistol whipped the shop worker "several times", say the Met Police.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Kate Bottomley said: “If anyone sees Doyley they are advised not to approach him but instead to call 999 immediately."

The thug – who is 5ft 10 inches tall, of medium build, has brown eyes and is bald – had served less than three years of an eight-year sentence.

He was found guilty at Woolwich Crown Court in November 2019 after pleading guilty to robbery and possession of a firearm, reports MyLondon.

The men stole around £1,500 and two phones when they stormed the shop before running off – the second man was not identified at the time.

Detective Constable Dave Crewe from the Flying Squad said: "It was thanks to good CCTV footage that led us to identifying Nicholas Doyley as the gunman.

"This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim and I hope that the sentence today goes some way to providing them with justice."
