RESIDENTS who live by the real Ted Lasso stadium have said that they love their little slice of Hollywood.
Selhurst Park is best known as the home of Crystal Palace but the ground is also shared with AFC Richmond – the football team from the hit series.
The award winning Ted Lasso is about an American with no football knowledge taking over an English football club because the owner wants to spite her ex-husband.
And locals who live by the famous stadium have spoken of how exciting it has been seeing their street on the popular series.
Hamilton Weekes, 66, lives next to the stadium and says he was very happy they chose to film by his house.
He said: “My sister watches the show and messaged me one day saying my road was on the show which was cool.

“It is cool for the area to be on the show definitely. I have no qualms with it.
“I have seen them filming a bit here and there. I once asked them what they were filming and they wouldn’t tell me but I guessed it was the show.
“I think it’s good and exciting for the community and if it brings some tourists that’s great.”
He added: “I haven’t seen anyone famous but I am not a big celebrity person so they could have walked past me and I wouldn’t have known!”

Despite the huge scale of the show and its fan base, locals have welcomed filming in their area.
And some have even claimed to see famous faces around their town.
Caitlin Efthers, 34, said: “There’s no more foot traffic than normal and I don’t see any Ted Lasso fans but I wouldn’t know what they would look like!
“Obviously it can be an inconvenience on game days but filming never gets in the way or anything.”
“I haven’t seen any of the filming as I am normally out in the day but my husband has seen them film a bit and seen some of the actors.”
The third and final season of Ted Lasso has recently been released on Apple TV and has captured the hearts of many since it first aired in 2020.
The show has been widely praised and many locals have said that living right next to the filming is a "great feeling".
'GREAT FEELING'
Actor Luther Osei, who lives right by the new mural of Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha, said: “It’s a great feeling living by it, especially as it is such a big show. It’s great.”
Luther, 24, added: “It’s all good with me. It hasn’t made any difference – it isn’t any busier than before.
“I haven’t seen more people turning up – just the fans every other week for the game.”
While Usaamah Mahmood lives by the entrance of the stadium and hasn’t seen an increase of tourists since the show aired.
The 26-year-old, who works in a bank, said: “It is really cool living by it as it is featured in such a big show.
“I was surprised when I watched it because I recognised it and was like woah that’s literally where I live.
“I wouldn’t notice any Ted Lasso fans because there are always lots of Crystal Palace fans especially on game days."
Since the stadium was chosen as the home of AFC Richmond, Usaamah hasn’t faced any real disturbance.
He only noted that he had to occasionally move his car and was sometimes unable to drive through the cut road to the local Sainsbury’s.
But these were just minor inconveniences which did not cause disruption to his day.
He added: “When they filmed for a few days for the last season the only thing is that we couldn’t drive through the stadium to Sainsbury’s but that was not an issue really.
“They asked us to move our cars too once but it wasn’t a problem.”
HAPPY LOCALS
And some residents say they were not aware of what they were filming until the show was advertised.
Ashley Charles, 36, said: “I actually didn’t know what it was they were filming until I saw it advertised.
“I saw lots of film stuff and extras but never any of the main actors.”
Like the other residents he hasn’t experienced any problems.
He said: “It hasn’t been a problem disturbance wise. We’re used to living near the stadium so it doesn’t make any difference.
“I don’t see any more fans than normal. I think it’s great it’s filmed here. I haven’t watched it yet but I would like to.”
After living by the stadium for multiple years, Nina Rattray is used to the busy nature that comes with living by a football stadium.
The support worker in her early 40s, said: “I have lived here forever and it’s always crazy around here.
“There hasn’t been a change since the show started. I didn’t even know they were filming something here. I’m used to the craziness so it’s fine.”
Patricia Oliver overlooks the stadium and is happy with the shows presence and feels the production crews respect the area.
The 62-year-old teacher said: “I see some filming but it never gets in the way. I can always get past.“
