Where is Justice McCann now?

Around 15 minutes after his attack, the police were called on McCann.

He was identified by a witness whose statement matched the CCTV footage of him.

McCann’s DNA was also found on a discarded black firearm nearby the scene along with the car where the driver was threatened.

He fled the scene when the police arrived but eventually, on August 14, he was arrested in Luton.

On January 14, 2020, in Luton Crown Court, McCann was given a prison sentence.

How long will Justice McCann spend in prison?

The judge, Mark Bishop, gave McCann 22 and a half years with an extended 5 years on licence.

McCann pleaded guilty to five charges. They were: attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

The judge explained: "because of your repeated criminality and previous convictions I believe you are dangerous, which is why you have got such a lengthy sentence."

When will Justice McCann be eligible for parole?

McCann will not be eligible for parole until 2035.

There was a mixed reception to his sentence.

The victim of the shooting said the attack destroyed his life and left him too frightened to leave the house.

Detector Chief Inspector Aaron Kiff commented: “I hope the sentence received by McCann shows others that there are consequences for anyone who uses a weapon to either harm or threaten another person.”

Kiff added that he hopes the victim: “is now able to begin rebuilding his life knowing that his attacker is behind bars and that the other people McCann threatened feel safe again”

There is also a popular GoFundMe that has the opposite take on McCann’s prison sentence, they are petitioning for a reduced sentence.
