A shocked wife found out her bigamist husband had remarried – when she saw photos of his wedding to another man on social media.
NHS worker Marcus Wild, 53, from Sneinton, was previously called Colin Parsons but changed his name by deed poll, Nottingham Crown Court heard on Tuesday.
He had split from his wife Susan – but had not divorced her – when he married his new husband at Nottingham’s Council House.
She had previously suspected her husband might be gay and challenged him about this – but it was not ‘well received’, the court heard.
Wild later confirmed he was gay and left the marital home, changing his name in the process.
A judge sentenced him to three months in prison, suspended for two years, Nottinghamshire Live reported.

As he married his new partner, he declared himself ‘single’ – despite being given clear warnings by the registrar he may have committed an offence if the information was false.
Wild claimed he was never asked about a previous marriage or previous names, but the court heard it was a thorough process and people are asked several times about previous marriages.
The court heard he was not single – but in fact still married to his wife. Following the wedding to his new partner, his estranged wife saw his wedding photos on social media.
He used his new name and referred to himself as ‘divorced’. It emerged she had attempted to contact Wild for a ‘quickie divorce’ – but had not heard anything back.
She kept the same name, same email address and was in the same property, the court was told.
Judge Nirmal Shant KC said Wild was married in 2003 to his wife – and it was plain from her statement the relationship went downhill in 2016.
‘She long suspected something about your sexuality,’ Judge Shant told him in the dock.
‘Despite various occasions where she challenged you about it, you at first denied it.’

After he left the marital home in 2016, by November 2020 he declared himself single.
The judge said Wild is now divorced and had embarked on a proper relationship with his husband and ‘has now moved on’.
For the offence of bigamy, which he admitted previously, she imposed three months in prison, suspended for two years.
He is now legally divorced and remains in a flourishing relationship with his husband and works for the NHS full-time as a store person.
He has been frightened about the outcome of his case, and is ashamed and embarrassed about what happened.
Wild, of previous good character, has had the court case hanging over him for 18 months.
