A WOMAN has admitted robbing a man of his mobility scooter before he collapsed and died outside a Tesco.

Kimberley Hawkins, 40, stole the vehicle in Stroud, Gloucestershire, on January 22 and assaulted Neil Shadwick.


The 63-year-old was later found collapsed outside the supermarket by a member of staff.

He was rushed to hospital but sadly couldn't be saved, with his mobility scooter discovered abandoned later that day.

Hawkins appeared at Gloucester Crown Court today where she admitted a charge of of aggravated vehicle taking without consent.

She also pleaded guilty to assaulting Neil and causing him actual bodily harm.

Neil suffered a number of health issues at the time including Parkinson's.

He also had a stroke shortly before he died and difficulty communicating verbally.

The court was told prosecutors are currently trying to track down experts in "neurological and pathologist fields".

Sarah Jenkins, defending, said Hawkins was "effectively living in a tent when she was arrested" and would have no place to go if she left custody.

The lawyer also confirmed Hawkins "needs to start detox from her methadone prescription".

Judge Ian Lawrie KC adjourned the case until August 18 but warned there could be further delays.
