A young couple were captured on CCTV having sex three times in a courtroom foyer as they waited for the woman to appear before a judge.

Shameka Julie Leeding, 19, from Queensland, was expected to appear at Toowoomba Magistrates Court on June 28, 2022 for an unrelated matter, supported by her partner Jake James Quinn, 20.

However, police prosecutor Cameron Francis said the couple were instead captured by CCTV around 9.40am kissing ‘vigorously’ before having sexual intercourse, The Chronicle reported.

They were stopped twice by staff before continuing after the workers left the area.

Leeding was captured on CCTV lifting up her skirt and sitting on partner Jake James Quinn (pictured), 20, moving up and down

On the first occasion, Leeding was seen lifting up her skirt and sitting on Quinn, moving up and down on his lap.

The pair quickly stopped what they were doing after they were approached by security.

However, once the officer left them, they started again.

Mr Francis stated Quinn exposed himself and Leeding adjusted her skirt while sitting on his lap.

They were interrupted again but were quickly back at it for a third time after staff left.

‘For a third time the couple were approached, again by security, and Leeding quickly stood up and held her arms out in an attempt to block the view of the security guard while Quinn attempted to cover himself up,’ Mr Francis said.

On Friday, the pair pleaded guilty to indecent act in any place to which the public are permitted access (pictured, Toowoomba Magistrates Court)

The couple then left the waiting area, after they had been sitting only 5m away from members of the public.

The court was told the pair were easily identified by CCTV and were issued notices to appear in court on June 30.

On Friday, the pair pleaded guilty to indecent act in any place to which the public are permitted access.

Solicitor Nathan Bouchier said Quinn’s actions ‘weren’t planned’ and that the unemployed labourer simply ‘wasn’t thinking’ of how inappropriate their actions were.

He claimed his client was looking for full-time employment, having previously completed a construction traineeship, and had two upcoming job interviews.

Leeding’s solicitor Ryan McCullough said the only explanation for the couple’s behaviour was they had been overcome with the ‘exuberance of youth’.

Magistrate Clare Kelly said she had never heard of such an incident happening at a courthouse, describing the offending as ‘outrageous behaviour’.

Ms Kelly expressed to the couple: ‘In a disrespectful manner you’ve taken into the public arena a very private act.’

They were sentenced to 60 hours community service each, with no convictions recorded.
