Zelensky reveals he’s survived ‘six’ assassination attempts by Putin and claims Moscow is plotting new bid at regime-change – as he accuses Kremlin of bringing planet to the brink of WW3 with Ukraine invasion
Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed that he has survived at least ‘five or six’ assassination attempts by Vladimir Putin since Russia invaded Ukraine last year.
The Ukrainian president said he has lost count of Russian attempts to assassinate him, but said intelligence services have foiled five missions to kill him.
He told The Sun today that the first assassination plot caused him to panic, but it now feels no worse than receiving a covid-19 each time a new one is unveiled.
‘The first one is very interesting, when it is the first time, and after that it is just like Covid,’ he told the newspaper. ‘First of all people don’t know what to do with it and it’s looking very scary.
‘And then after that, it is just intelligence just sharing with you detail that one more group came to Ukraine to [attempt] this.’
Zelensky claimed that Moscow is plotting to topple him before the end of the year, but the battle-hardened leader has vowed to fight on.
He also accused Russia of ‘lighting fires’ across the globe and leading the world to the brink of World War Three.
