First rat, then tomato, now ‘strawberry girl’ summer is trending

Hailey Bieber’s influence on the world of beauty is undeniable.

The donut-glazed mani was perhaps the most popular nail choice of last year – not to mention the various glossy offshoots of it – but now the model has declared a new beauty trend in her latest Instagram post: ‘strawberry girl’ summer.

So, naturally, the internet is already obsessed with it.

The ‘strawberry’ look in question is all about looking flushed, yet put together.

Makeup artist and founder of Pearl Beauty, Elanna Pecherle, says: ‘Strawberry girl summer is the art of creating a glowy, flushed makeup look that still appears natural and minimal.

‘While it’s had many variations over the last few months, including “sunkissed makeup” and “tomato girl“, it seems that, thanks to Hailey Bieber, “strawberry girl summer” is the season’s latest makeup look.’

So how can you go about creating this rosy aesthetic at home?

Elanna says cream blusher is your friend here, as well as cream highlighters.

She explains: ‘The main aim is to create a flushed, sun-kissed effect on the higher parts of your face, including your nose and cheeks that would be most prone to catching the sun. You then use the highlighter to add some glow where the sun would usually “bounce” off your face. ‘

‘This look really adds definition and a gorgeous glow to your skin – and if you prefer more of a toned down “sun-kissed’ look, this aesthetic is trendy, wearable and achievable for all ages, skin tones, and skin types.’

So, where do you get started?

Elanna adds: ‘First apply your cream blush on the high points of your face. Start applying it across your cheekbones and your nose – I would recommend blending this with your chosen brush into a W shape, starting from your cheekbone, down to the apple of your cheek, across the nose, and then repeat this on the other side.’

Elanna continues: ‘Then, apply some on your forehead, below your hairline and just above your temples. I always suggest applying products sparingly, as it is much easier to add further product than it is to remove it, especially when it comes to blush, and then you can really tailor this to your personal makeup preferences.’
