Adam Thomas pulls out of work commitments as Strictly pressure mounts

Ryan Thomas addresses Adam’s absence from podcast

Adam Thomas has been forced to pull out of a work commitment today, as he admitted that he only has a few days to learn his routine for this week’s Strictly Come Dancing after coming down with a mysterious illness.

The former Emmerdale actor, who is partnered with professional dancer Luba Mushtuk, previously complained to his fans: “Of all weeks to be poorly!”

Taking to his Instagram story, he told his one million followers: “Thank you for your get-well messages, it really means a lot.

“I’m not feeling the best today, but a little bit better than I was yesterday,” he added.

“But yeah, the show must go on,” he resolved with a grimace. “It’s Wednesday and I still don’t know my routine. I missed a day of training yesterday, I missed work yesterday…”

Adam then let out a sigh of frustration before telling himself: “Come on, let’s go.”

Next on his story, Adam re-posted a video from his brother, Coronation Street’s Ryan Thomas.

In the clip, Ryan said: “Good morning. On our way to Manchester to record our series of Mancs On The Mic.

“Adam’s given the big call in this morning that he’s too busy – too busy for Mancs On The Mic!

“Ever since he’s got on Strictly, he’s just got that little bit too ‘big-time’,” he teased with the caption: “Let’s go @scott.thomas we got this!” (sic)

Adam didn’t appear to take the jibe to heart, as he captioned the story: “Haha goo on boys!! I’ll be back soon…” (sic)

The next video showed Ryan handing their brother Scott Thomas a drink as they settled in at the studio where they recor Mancs On The Mic.

Former Love Island star Scott captioned the clip: “The show goes on with one leg and no @adamthomas this week.

“Let’s have some fan with this one Big Bro @ryanthomas,” he added with a laughing emoji.

Ryan once again took to Instagram to poke fun at his absent brother in another video, telling their fans: “You’re asking where Adam is. He’s too big-time now. He’s too big for it.

“We’ll run the ship, don’t worry,” he added, as Scott could be heart in the background yelling “Where are ya?” (sic)

Adam has previously opened up about being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis earlier this year after experiencing months of pain.

The star has said that Strictly couldn’t have come at a better time, as he wants to show off his moves while he still can.

The NHS describes rheumatoid arthritis as a “long-term condition that causes pain, swelling and stiffness in the joints’ with the main affected areas being the hands, feet and wrists”.

Strictly Come Dancing returns this Saturday at 7.35pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
