"Turns out I probably had an infection and otter issues which I won’t bore you with. Been on drips, regular bloods taken and have observations every 4 hours through day and night.

"Didn’t think I’d be watching @bbcmorninglive from a hospital bed but it’s just part of the roller coaster life that this illness throws at you I must admit I was especially touched by the birthday message from the the team for my birthday this coming Friday- thanks very much. X.

The NHS website explains that jaundice is a condition where your skin or the whites of your eyes turn yellow and can be a sign of something serious like liver disease and needs urgent medical attention.

Jonnie, who rose to fame in 2004 by presenting Channel 4 show A Place In the Sun, was initially given only six months to live when first diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2020. But he has outlived doctor’s predictions with the help of medication, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Last year Jonnie shared that he didn't know how much longer he had left to live. Since then he has been making memories with his loved ones – including a "full-on" family day out a couple of months ago and a getaway to the Northumberland coast.
