Arlene Phillips’ ‘world turned upside down’ as baby granddaughter hospitalised

Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips has revealed that her one year old granddaughter was "rushed to hospital" after looking like a "rag doll".

The 79 year old choreographer told of how her "world was turned upside down" at the shocking news of the daughter of Arlene's own daughter Alana.

She took to Instagram to share an adorable picture of the little one, named Emme, who was sat on the floor dressed in a pair of pyjamas as she held onto a pair of tiny shiny pink wellington boots.

Alongside the snap, Arlene wrote: "My world was turned upside down this week when my beautiful granddaughter #emmebow was rushed into hospital and my daughter @alanastewartmama had no idea why she was rapidly losing weight and like a little rag doll.

"Fortunately the hospital identified what was wrong which was the result of a virus and now she’s home and really on the mend which has lifted my spirits enormously and I’m totally ready to get into my rehearsals on @houseofflamenka full of smiles."

Arlene's followers rushed to comment on the post, with one person writing: "Gosh that’s scary Arlene. So much love xxx"

Another commented: "What a scare. I am so glad all is well xxx," whilst a third wrote: "Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that. What a relief she’s back to her best x"

Emme's mother Alana, 43, is the eldest of Arlene's two daughters and is also mother to another daughter named Lila Primrose.

I'm A Celebrity 2021 contestant Arlene shares Alana with her ex-husband Danny Noble, but the pair split shortly after Arlene welcomed their daughter into the world in 1979.

It seems that Alana's daughter's hospital scare had Arlene feeling nostalgic, as she took to Instagram once again just hours after her post about Emme to share a picture of Alana as a child, as she also wished her a "happy birthday".

Alana looked adorable in a pink ballerina leotard, tutu and pumps as she was clearly showing off her moves to her mother.

Arlene captioned the snap: "In 1979 I discovered I was pregnant and set to choreograph a big Hollywood film but to my joy I had a two week hiatus on the film when my baby was due to be born and like the trooper I was flew from New York back to Los Angeles for the birth where after I was about to head into twelve weeks of filming.

"Since then this baby has brought so much happiness to my life and today I wish her the most beautiful of birthdays and say thank you."
