Britney Spears talks her 55-hour marriage to friend Jason Alexander

Britney Spears says her 55-hour marriage to childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004 at Vegas chapel was ‘innocent fun’…as she reveals she did it because she was ‘drunk’ and ‘bored’

Britney Spears’ memoir The Woman In Me, out October 24, also delved into her brief 55-hour marriage to childhood friend Jason Alexander, which took place in  2004.

In an excerpt obtained by Time magazine, the pop star recalled going to Las Vegas wedding chapel with him during a New Years trip there and marrying.

The mom of two, 42, said  her and her friends were partying in Vegas – with pal Paris Hilton also with them – and got really drunk.

‘He and I got sh**-faced. I don’t even remember the night at all, but from what I pieced together, he and I lounged around the hotel room and stayed up late watching movies – Mona Lisa Smile and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – then had the brilliant idea of going to A Little White Chapel at three thirty in the morning.’

The star emphasized in the book that she did not love him, but was just ‘drunk’ and ‘bored.’

Her memoir The Woman In Me, out October 24, also details her ‘out of her mind grief’ following her devastating split from Justin Timberlake, the death of her aunt and losing custody of her kids to Kevin.

She also revealed she had an abortion at 19 with ex Justin after she got pregnant at 19 – claiming that the ‘agonizing’ decision was made by him because he wasn’t ‘ready to be a father.’

The marriage – which took place on January 3, 2004 at A Little White Wedding Chapel, was annulled three days later (55 hours later) on Monday, January 5, 2004.

On her family: ‘They made way too big a deal out of innocent fun. Everybody has a different perspective on it, but I didn’t take it seriously.’

Britney added that her family was ‘so against the wedding’ that she ‘started to think maybe I’d accidentally committed a brilliant act.’

‘Because I realized: something about me being under their control and not having a stronger connection to someone else had become very, very important to them… Perhaps it’s worth mentioning that, by  this point, I was supporting them financially,’ she penned.
