Iconic rock star Bruce Springsteen joined Coldplay onstage on Sunday night (June 5) at the band’s second show of their two-night run at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Chris Martin and Springsteen performed back-to-back renditions of “Working on a Dream” and “Dancing in the Dark.”
“The thing that happens when you make magic … is that magic comes to the building,” Martin told the audience before inviting Bruce on stage. “I have a tattoo on my arm because this person is my hero. So please welcome – I can’t believe it, I get to say it – please welcome Mr. Bruce Springsteen.”
Ahead of their duet of “Working on a Dream”, Springsteen joked with the audience saying, “Well, like Chris said, he’s had this song tattooed on his arm for a while, so I guess I’ve got to sing it.”
After the two-song spot ended, Martin said to Springsteen, “Thank you … thank you for everything.”
Coldplay are set to wrap up the North American leg of their Music of the Spheres stadium tour with shows in Atlanta (June 11) and Tampa (June 14) before crossing over to Europe and South America.
