Former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman, 62, was forced to warn her fans following a fraudster’s attempt to rip them off for hundreds of pounds. The Pride of Britain host took to Instagram this morning to call out the fake account in view of her 316,000 followers.

Carol shared a screenshot of the fraudulent account @carol.privately, which claimed to offer fans the chance to meet Carol in return for £600.

The BBC Radio Wales presenter called out the claim from the scammer account, which had already gained 289 followers.

“WARNING,” Carol wrote. “Carol.privately is a scam account.”

“Apparently they’re asking £600 for a cup of coffee with me!!!” she added incredulously. “Jaysus, that’s expensive.”

“Would help if you could report as a scam account please,” she added with a praying emoji.

Just last weekend, Carol had to issue another warning to fans as fraudulent accounts continue to crop up.

Fans had contacted her, alerting her to the same account she was forced today to call out once again.

“Scam alert,” Carol wrote at the time. “Quite a few of you are telling me they are being contacted by @Carol.privately or similar.”

“It’s a scam. Pls report them,” she added, before sharing her real accounts to avoid any confusion.

“@carolvorders with the blue tick is my only account. Plus @vordervan which I’ll get going again soon.”

A worried fan named Paul was one of the followers to reach out to the star, warning Carol about the scam operation.

“Someone has set up an Instagram account called carol.privately, which I think is a scam and thought you should know,” Paul wrote.

He added that he had thought it was the real Carol at first, before realising his mistake.

“When your scam site friended me at first I thought it was the real you… Silly me,” he explained.

“Another scam? This week seems to have had its fair share x,” Carol replied.

Last year, the Welsh star was forced to call out another scammer’s “pathetic” behaviour.

The scam that occurred last May was more complex, with the fraudster even pretending to be a concerned Carol wanting to find “imposters”.

“Crazily this imposter is pretending to want information about impostors,” Carol wrote.

“Jeez. Here’s the thing. This account @carolvorders and my van account @vordervan are the ONLY ACCOUNTS I HAVE.

“If you get any message from any other account pretending to be me. It isn’t me. I am only on here and @vordervan.

“And a message to ALL the fake account pretenders… Get a life and stop with this obsession. It’s pathetic.”
