Emmerdales Chloe Harris star confronted by fans as pregnancy plot causes confusion

Emmerdale actress Jessie Elland, who plays Chloe Harris on the ITV soap, has revealed that her pregnancy plot on-screen has led to awkward moments during nights out, as she has been confronted by groups of fans.

The star has been portraying a teenage pregnancy storyline ever since Chloe had a one-night stand with Mackenzie Boyd (played by Lawrence Robb) in the village.

Mack, was gearing up to marry Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and had been intent on keeping his indiscretion a secret, but fans have watched with bated breath for everything to spill out in classic soap style in recent weeks.

Yet off-screen, Emmerdale viewers haven't been able to separate Jessie from her character when they see her drinking in public.

The actress revealed that strangers have felt the need to tell her off for consuming alcohol due to her imaginary baby.

“If I had a pound for every time I’ve been on a night out and someone has said, ‘Hang on, you shouldn’t be drinking, aren’t you pregnant?’” the star explained.

Speaking to new! magazine, she went on to say that despite the awkward moments when she's out with her friends, fans have generally been lovely since she joined the soap.

“It’s been lovely," she told us. "The great thing about this love triangle dynamic is that there’s such a grey area.

"There’s no ‘he’s definitely in the wrong’ or ‘she’s definitely in the wrong,'" the star went on.

Jessie also joked that it was "really cheesy" but she pinches herself for bagging such a brilliant role and storyline every day.

"I’ve been like, ‘This is my job! What am I doing?’ I’ve been very lucky," she added.

Last week, Chloe went into early labour the day before Mack and Charity's wedding day when her waters broke.

After tense scenes in hospital, the character gave birth while the couple were actually tying the knot.

It comes as eagle-eyed viewers spotted a blunder in the dramatic storyline on Wednesday night, as they claimed Chloe had gone into labour a couple of months too early.

Realising that soap bosses could have made a slight gaffe by ensuring that Charity and Mack's wedding day took place at the same time as Chloe gave birth, fans were convinced the dates of the character's pregnancy had been shifted.

"Is Chloe's baby even due yet? I thought she had another couple of months to go!! But I knew it would come around the time of Mack & Charity's wedding," one person commented.

Another fan wondered: "Didn’t she only just have her 20-week scan like 2 weeks ago?"

"so excited for charity to find out the truth it feels like it's been a long time coming! can't wait for her and mac to be over #emmerdale," a third person shared.

While a fourth viewer posted: "How can Chloe be going into labour already?!"
