Gaten Matarazzo and Jordan Fisher are front and center while performing on stage at the 2023 Tony Awards held at United Palace Theater on Sunday evening (June 11) in New York City.
The two actors joined their Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street co-stars for a performance of the opening number from the musical revival.
Also included in the performance was star Josh Groban, who plays Sweeney Todd himself.
The Broadway revival was nominated for eight awards tonight, including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for Josh, Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for Annaleigh Ashford, Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for Ruthie Ann Miles, Best Scenic Design of a Musical, Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Best Sound Design of a Musical and Best Choreography.
At the time of this post, the show won Best Sound Design and Best Lighting Design – Congratulations!
If you missed it, Jordan recently announced that this upcoming week will be his final performances in the musical. Next Sunday (June 18) will be his last show.
