Holly Willoughby’s pals ‘angry’ as she had ‘no choice’ but to leave This Morning

Holly Willoughby quits ITV’s This Morning after 14 years

Holly Willoughby’s friends have rushed to her defence following her decision to step down from her role on This Morning.

Just days after an alleged plot to kidnap and murder her was rumbled by police, the 42-year-old released a heartfelt statement confirming her exit from the ITV daytime show.

Now her pals have expressed their anger over the situation and feel as though she had no choice but to leave This Morning for her own safety.

A friend told the Mirror: “She is in a bad way but some things aren’t worth it no matter how much she adored This Morning.

“It’s terrible that one of our best presenters felt she had no choice.”

After speculation that she would not return, the presenter shared a message to her 8.4 million followers on Instagram.

She wrote: “I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning.

“To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so much.

“This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together.

“Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you.

“Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been so loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day,” the mum-of-three penned.

The Dancing On Ice presenter concluded her heartfelt statement by sharing something that original This Morning hosts Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan told her.

She continued: “Richard and Judy said ‘We only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers’.

“It’s been an honour to just be a part of it’s story and I know this story has many chapters left to go.

“Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. I will miss you all so much. Holly,” she signed off.
