The Team GB and Strictly Come Dancing star announced on social media yesterday that they were going their separate ways after “a wonderful three years” together.
Adam, winner of three Olympic golds and the 50m breaststroke at this month’s Birmingham Commonwealth Games, did not detail the reasons behind the break-up.
But the news led to speculation about the so-called “Strictly Curse” after Adam’s smouldering chemistry with dance partner Katya Jones, right, last year.
They made headlines when fans of the hit BBC One show thought they almost kissed at the end of a racy Argentinian Tango.
Artist Eirianedd, 24, said then that the spectacle made her “really emotional” and there were signs of tension between her and Adam, 27, after his Birmingham gold.
At one point she refused to pass him 23-month-old son George, shaking her head, and watched tearfully as he walked back to the stands alone with his newly-won medal.
Adam posted: “Eiri and I have decided to go our separate ways. We have enjoyed a wonderful three years together, 2 of those with our gorgeous son George. Our priority has always been to provide the happiest and healthiest home environment for him, and right now that means ending our romantic relationship.”
“I could not ask for a greater mother for George and I am so grateful to Eiri for her amazing support over the last three years.”
“Eiri and George, I’m sorry for letting you down. My only interest is for the well-being of our family at this difficult time so I ask that our privacy is respected and I won’t be saying anything further.”
Eirianedd later said on Instagram: “The last three years have been so, so amazing. Our little family has experienced so much laughter and love and joy. You guys have been such a significant part of that!”
“This next chapter of my life is surely going to be an incredibly difficult one. I would appreciate that people would refrain from commenting, speculating or messaging.”
Only last week the couple, who started seeing each other a few months before Eirianedd became pregnant in 2020, seemed happy and relaxed pictured enjoying a holiday on the Greek island of Santorini in their posts on Instagram.
