Jeff Stelling says ‘I don’t care about football tonight’ as dog fights for life

Former Soccer Saturday presenter Jeff Stelling has posted a heartbreaking update to his 254,000 followers on X, formerly known as Twitter.

On Saturday night he took to the social media platform to disclose that his beloved dog was “fighting for his life.”

“Tonight guys you can support as many teams as you like. I don’t care. I don’t care much about football tonight tbh [to be honest],” he wrote alongside a picture of his beloved pet.

“My best mate for 12 years Stan is tonight fighting for his life in hospital,” he revealed.

“I know some people will think it is pathetic but right now he is all I care about,” he concluded without giving any further details about what was wrong with the pooch.

Followers were quick to offer him their sympathies, including former Sky Sports colleague Chris Kamara.

“Nobody will think that Jeff. Animals are like most humans as they have an unconditional love for the people who look after them it doesn’t sound good for Stan but I hope he is not in pain x,” he wrote. (sic)

A follower with the handle @DiStefano1410 chimed in: “It’s not pathetic, Jeff! Be with Stan, football can never be more important and will always have a tomorrow. I hope Stan get better.” (sic)

@JudeStones expressed her sympathy commenting: “Oh no! I’m so sorry. He looks like such a lovely chap. I hope he pulls through, doggies are so precious.”
