Jeremy Vine mockingly questions Holly Willoughby’s ‘odd’ This Morning statement

Holly Willoughby’s This Morning statement

Jeremy Vine, 58, poked fun at Holly Willoughby, 42, after she asked viewers of This Morning if they were “OK” following the news of Phillip Schofield’s affair with a young male showrunner.

It comes after Holly’s question was branded “insincere” and “bizarre” by some viewers.

Sharing a clip of Holly asking if viewers “were OK?” in view of his 787k followers, Jeremy mockingly typed: “If I wanted to answer this question, who should I speak to?”

In response, one of the BBC Radio 2 presenter’s Twitter followers claimed it was a “bizarre rhetorical question”

They typed: “It’s a bizarre rhetorical question with no warmth and a facial expression that says if you aren’t ok…I don’t want to know..very odd really…”

While a second remarked: “I thought a rather odd question. I know it is a big news story, but personally, I’m unaffected emotionally. Yes, I have some serious ethical questions and concerns.”

A third commented: “I believe the idea was to send our answers on the back of a postcard to Studio TC3, London Television Centre (BBC Studioworks) where Holly can read them all personally, seeing as she is so concerned about our welfare.”

It comes as Holly is reportedly set to “never speak” about her former ITV co-star Phillip Schofield, 61, ever again, after her brief mention of him on Monday’s This Morning divided viewers.

A source said her monologue, which only mentioned Phillip by name once, showed how upset she is.

They claimed: “This is the only time Holly will ever speak about Phil and what has happened.

“She still feels incredibly angry and upset by his actions and is very much still trying to get her head around it.

“It took a lot for Holly to compose herself and speak about what has gone on in the last few weeks.

“But people expecting her to sit and pour her heart out will be waiting for a long time.

“Holly is upset that Phil, who she believed to be a very close friend, lied to her about his affair,” the source told The Sun.

Holly told viewers she felt let down after Phillip, 61, confessed he had lied about his affair with a young showrunner, an admission which led to him leaving ITV.

She said: “It feels very strange sitting here without Phil and I imagine you might be feeling a lot like I have — shaken, troubled, let down, worried for the well-being of people on all sides of what’s been going on, and full of questions.”

She added: “You, me and all of us at This Morning gave our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth, who acted in a way that they themselves felt that they had to resign from ITV and step down from a career that they loved. That is a lot to process.

“And it’s equally hard to see the toll that it’s taken on their own mental health.”
