Seann Walsh has hit back at people calling it “sour grapes” he lost out to Gogglebox at the award ceremony.
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! was knocked off the top spot after being nominated for Most Popular Entertainment Programme at the National Television Awards 2023 (NTAs).
Gogglebox scooped the prize leaving Seann to make a cheeky joke on an Instagram video that ex-Lioness Jil Scott was upset at losing at NTA to the Channel 4 show.
Taking to the picture-sharing site on Tuesday night the ex-Strictly star, 37, told social media users that Jill, 36, complained about it – but it was all just a joke.
Speaking on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X today, Seann explained: “After the event on the way home in the car, because Gogglebox won our category, right, lovely…, so I did a little Insta story of saying, you know, ‘I was just humbled, humbled to be nominated but Jill Scott, I did not like that side of Jill.

“I just did not expect that from her, she was going ‘I can’t believe this, all they do is watch telly yeah, I’ve had insects in my ear, bugs in my ear, I wasn’t making telly gold then have nothing to watch this is a disgrace.'”
But admittedly people took his comments the wrong way and assumed the comedian was being serious and blasted Jill as “sour grapes”.
Seann added: “So, I just posted that, being silly…, it’s the internet, people were responding going, [adopts mimicry voice] ‘it’s sour grapes…it’s gone to her head…’.”
His I’m A Celeb co-star and radio host Chris chimed: “Well, why don’t you all respond by seeing Seann on his ‘I’m not bitter, but Jill is’ tour.”

The comedian later revealed he almost missed the ceremony altogether after he was refused entry because he was unable to produce a ticket upon arrival.
The NTA nominee admitted he waited 30 minutes to get into the prestigious ceremony after forgetting his ticket.
“It’s the NTAs you get picked up, you get driven to the event, I got there and they went, ‘ticket’ and I’d forgotten the ticket, and I went ‘oh my god I’m so sorry I forgot the ticket’ and you don’t want to be this guy and go ‘…I was in the jungle…I’ve been nominated,'” he chuckled.
Seann was eventually able to get inside the O2 arena, as he added: “I was kind of slightly relieved because it’s a big social event and you know, you have the social anxiety and I was like, let’s just go home, but someone from the [WhatsApp] group told someone, and then like the NTAs rang and got me in.”
