Strictly’s Helen Skelton says she ‘doesn’t see herself as a victim’ as ex Richie ‘expects a baby’

Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton has said she is “not a victim”, in a new interview, amid her split from ex-husband Richie Myler.

Helen, 39, announced her split from husband Richie, 32, in April after eight years together, and only four months since the birth of their third child.

It was claimed last week that Richie is now "expecting his first child with his new girlfriend Stephanie Thirkill, 32".

Following the collapse of her marriage, Helen is now back living with her parents, along with her three children Ernie, six, Louis, five, and nine month old Elsie.

Despite the difficult time, the Countryfile presenter has insisted that she “doesn’t see herself as a victim”, and signed up for Strictly as she wants to end the year on a positive note.

Helen told The Telegraph: “I think it would have been disrespectful for me to have not done Strictly. For my family, who need to see me have a great time. It’s not just for me.

She continued: “I don’t see myself as a victim, no, because I mean, look…there are a lot of people who have been in my situation who haven’t been given the opportunities that I’ve got.”

Helen admitted though, that she still has her bad moments, like everybody else, as she noted: “Don’t get me wrong, I have my days when I’m p***ed off.”

The mum-of-three refused to comment on her ex-husband in the interview, only adding: “You cannot have any opinion on anyone else’s life until you’ve walked in those shoes.

“And my family are happy, my kids are happy, and that’s all ultimately that matters.”

It was discovered that Richie was in a new relationship with Stephanie after the breakdown of his marriage with Helen was announced.

Following the news, Helen soldiered on with her performance on Strictly last Saturday night, though she appeared teary-eyed following her routine.

Helen’s dancing partner Gorka Márquez took a moment afterwards to lift up her spirits in the studio.

He said: “I know you've been having a difficult time. I know you have, basically, been made to feel like you're not beautiful, or good enough or anything.

"But if you don't believe in yourself, I believed in you. Everybody here believes in you. Your family believes in you," the Spanish professional dancer told Helen.

Gorka added: "You're an amazing woman. Very inspirational. An amazing mum and dancer."
