Tom Hollander carries off his new role as a first-time dad

Tom Hollander carries off his new role as a first-time dad… but it’s hungry work for the actor as he juggles his lunchtime routine with baby strapped to his chest

Never mind the night feeds, Tom Hollander has already managed to juggle the new dads’ lunchtime routine just weeks after becoming a father for the first time at 56.

Tom, star of BBC thriller The Night Manager, is pictured taking such late parenthood in his stride as he stepped out with his newborn for a pastry and an iced drink.

He carried the baby on his chest as he walked through his neighbourhood in Notting Hill, West London, last week – later tucking into the pastry and sipping the drink while his baby slept in the £100 Ergobaby carrier.

The child with his long-term girlfriend, interior designer Fran Hickman, 39, follows the pair rekindling their intermittent relationship in lockdown.

The Mail on Sunday revealed last month that Tom was ‘beyond thrilled’ to be having a baby with Fran, his fiancee till they called off the wedding in 2010. They got back together during the pandemic, with friends saying that she moved into his £2 million flat and ‘never left’.

Tom, who also starred in BBC sitcom Rev and HBO comedy-drama The White Lotus, was last seen in public with a heavily- pregnant Fran early last month when they shared an embrace at lunch.

He has branded himself a ‘lazy actor’ in the past and in a 2011 interview he also admitted: ‘I’d love to be a dad, it’s just that I’ve not managed to sort it out.’

Asked if he wanted to settle down, he added: ‘Yes, of course. And I occasionally think: How have I managed not to settle down when I came from such a settled-down family?’
