First look inside Scotland’s biggest Poundland which opens TODAY – with huge Pep&Co clothing and homeware sections | The Sun

POUNDLAND biggest ever store in Scotland opened today – and it's three times bigger than its normal shops.

Savvy shoppers will be able to visit the supersized branch on Crown Street in Glasgow's Gorbals from Saturday morning.

But we had an exclusive first look around the 18,380sq ft shop today – complete with a massive Pep&Co clothing and home department which takes up a third of the store.

Shop bosses promised it will offer the "widest possible range of womenswear, menswear and kidswear", and it already looks set to delight fashion fans.

The store is stocked up on the viral seamless sets in a variety of different colours which are adored by fashion lovers, along with comfy sliders.

There is also a selection of orange and coral pieces just in time for spring.

And a large range of clothing for little ones as well.

Poundland has become one of the UK’s top 20 clothing retailers, in under seven years and the Glasgow mega-department will even have changing rooms for customers’ convenience.

The Pep Home department, meanwhile, is ram packed with the latest 2023 ranges, including new kitchen storage options, bathroom accessories and soft furnishings.

Pep Home’s range of faux plants has always been popular, but for those who want to try their hand at the real thing, there will also be a selection of house plants to enhance the home.

And customers even have a range of small domestic appliances to choose from including Russell Hobbs toasters, kettles and irons.

The wider than usual range of health and beauty products will include Poundland’s own Make Up Gallery, #6 skincare and brands such as Rimmel and Essence.

The budget store's own-brand make-up has been described by beauty fans as the shop's "best kept secret" with foundation and concealer priced from just £1.

Elsewhere in the aisles, shoppers have a selection of food and drink, home and pet items, entertainment and stationery and a large range of toys.

Darren Kay, Poundland director of retail, said: "We’re looking forward to opening the largest Poundland in Scotland.

"In fact, some may even say it’s a ‘beezer’ of a store.

"The size of the store means there’s more of our amazing value under one roof across more categories than ever before.

"The first four destination stores of this scale we’ve opened in England have wowed customers and we’re thrilled it’s now time to bring our best offer to Glasgow.

"We can’t wait to open the doors on March 11."

Poundland is opening 50 new stores across the UK by the end of this year, which is expected to bring in around 800 jobs.

The budget chain also wants to try its luck on Partick's Dumbarton Road once more, after moving out in January 2022.

The chain has applied for permission to place signs on the unit on 418 Dumbarton Road, close to Partick train station.
