Five hair looks that instantly make you look cheap and tacky – there’s a fatal error people always make with highlights | The Sun

AN ELEGANCE whizz has listed the five common hair mistakes that make people look tacky – has your hairdo made it on the list?

From long acrylics with gemstones to skimpy mini dresses, the list of what's considered to be tacky seems to be never-ending.

But according to one pro, Antonia Higham (@antoniahigham), from the UK, your locks also play a key part in how others will perceive you – and there are some hair looks that will leave a cheap aftertaste.

The elegance whizz took to TikTok to share the list of the major mistakes – and ladies, it's time to visit your hairdresser.

In her eyes, the video showed, having pitch black roots showing will not make for a good look – and it's particularly tragic when mixed with platinum blonde hair.

Another mistake, Antonia reckoned, was opting for chunky highlights – this is a choice no elegant lady will ever make.

Not only will this make you look like a skunk but the 90s-inspired trend is anything but classy.

Summer is just around the corner and you may want to experiment with vibrant colours – and whilst we're all for it when it comes to fashion, it's best to leave your hair out of this.

Unnatural dyes, such as neon pink that was once loved by Cardi B, will not make for an elegant and chic woman, Antonia reckoned.

But whichever colour you settle on, it's essential to take good care of it and maintain a fresh look – for the guru, nothing is as hair-rific as unkept hair, especially when it's brassy.

Last but certainly not least, the pro advised to steer clear of the 50/50 trend, which sees one half of your head in one colour and the other in a totally different colour, such as black and white.

However, despite the recommendations, it seems that people on social media were quite divided and many did not agree with the whizz.

Recently, another style pro listed the nail designs that are best avoided, as they're anything but elegant.

The expert, known as Barbara Coral (@barbaracoral), from Florence, Italy, took to TikTok to list the biggest Dos and Don'ts of mani – has your favourite colour made it in the video?

The stunner started the clip with a more neutral shade of muted pink – if this is your go-to, good news, as Barbara reckoned it was an elegant choice.

However, the next design – baby blue tips with intricate flowers and golden elements – is best avoided, as she insisted it's tacky.

The third manicure that Barbara shared her thoughts on was a deep burgundy red – and this, like the first one, was one for the elegant ladies.

Same goes for those who love a glossy nude – another chic option in the guru's eyes.

But if you're someone who prefers your manicure to have a marble effect, especially one in blue and gold, it's bad news – Barbara recommended staying away from it.

Perhaps you might want to go with the following design – the classic French tips, which she reckoned was an elegant choice.
