I’m a cleaning whizz and I have a 2p hack for streak-free glass – it’ll make your windows glisten | The Sun

A CLEANING expert has revealed how to achieve the perfect streak-free finish on glass using a common household item.

There's nothing quite as frustrating as spending ages trying to clean the windows of your home and being left with a streaky mess.

Fortunately, one whizz, Sue Caldwell, the managing director of the eco-friendly cleaning brand Clean Living International, has come to rescue with an easy hack.

Chatting to The Express, the pro revealed that the key to sparkling windows is… a newpaper.

She instructed: “Use a solution of distilled white vinegar or an eco-friendly glass cleaner applied to the windows or glass, then scrunch up your newspaper sheets and work it into the surface in a circular motion.

“As newspapers are so absorbent, it absorbs the liquid to prevent streaks, rather than just moving it around the glass.”

Glass is a non-porous surface, so the ink of the newspaper will not adhere to the surface, Sue reassured.

Those obsessed with cleaning, particularly fans of Mrs Hinch, will know that white vinegar works like a charm – and it does wonders for your windows too.

The popular kitchen staple is acidic in nature, which means the liquid can easily dissolve mineral deposits, dirt, grease and grime.

Available at most stores, vinegar is often used to clean ovens, remove stubborn limescale from kettles, dishwashers and even washing machines.

According to the expert, one of the main errors is cleaning windows on a sunny day.

She explained that instead, you should be doing this on a dry but overcast and cloudy day.

This is because cleaning windows when the sun is shining heats the glass which then dries the cleaning solution onto the surface before it has the chance to be wiped away.

It is the sun that causes the annoying streaks and smudges across the glass window.

Meanwhile, Sue also advised to avoid using too much cleaning solution, as it can also cause windows to become streaky.
