A FOOD whizz has shared how he makes the perfect meal for a family of five for under £1 per portion.

Mitch explained how he used bargain buys from Sainsbury’s to make a delicious egg fried rice dish.

And not only will it cost under a fiver in total and just 92p per portion, it is quick and easy to make too.

Posting on TikTok under the username @mealsbymitch, the food fan shared his video with the caption ‘Cheap egg fried rice, plenty of rice, soy sauce and eggs leftover to make another batch as well.’

He said: “This is how to make a really simple egg fried rice.”

Mitch held up a receipt of his grocery shopping from Sainsbury’s, providing that the meal cost him just £4.64 to make.

“After ten minutes, turn the heat completely off, wrap it up [put tin foil on top] and let it steam for another 15 minutes.

“Perfect fluffy rice, every single time.

“Let the rice cool down and then in a steaming hot pan I’ve added one onion, one carrot, one pepper.

“Let it cook for two minutes and add a little bit of salt and about three cloves of garlic.

“Let this go on for another minute and then add the cold rice.

“Break it all up, make sure there’s no big clumps in there.

“Add three beaten eggs. Stir it all through.

“I’ve added some frozen peas and four to five tablespoons of soy sauce.

“It’s all about plating it up nice now.

“Finish with some spring onions. Bon appetit.”
