WHEN you want some privacy in the garden, the natural conclusion would be to build a privacy fence.
But one gardening whizz has shared an alternative that’s both cheap and easy to do.
Taking to social media, the woman shared: “Are you a small space patio gardener? Here’s how to hide from your neighbours.”.
Picking up a rectangular trellis, she said you can create your own privacy screen with a large pot.
She explained that you can plant some vigorous vines such as hops, trumpet vine or clematis, which will grow up the trellis.
You could also grow it yourself by starting with seeds. She said: “Start from seed with something like a red runner bean, which you can eat as well.”

Moving away from the vines idea, she then shared the “ever-lasting route”, which is to get a bamboo screen.
“It’s a natural look to put your planters in front of and we have it in different heights,” she said.
Another alternative is to get a trellis with fake vines already on it, so that when you open it you’re already good to go.
TikTok user @artsnursery went on to say that tall pots “make a statement” and they have the added bonus of not taking up a huge amount of space.

“You can put something like flax or even some grasses,” in them too, she said.
And her final tip was to use screens in the garden to create some privacy as well as a “nice backdrop”.
