I’m a hairdresser, five common hair myths that aren’t true – including why trimming your hair won’t make it grow faster | The Sun

HOW many times have you heard the phrases, ‘If you pluck one grey hair from your head, two will grow back’, or ‘trimming your hair will promote its growth'?

Now a hairdresser has revealed that these two popular beliefs – plus three others – are totally untrue.

Hair stylist Rachel Valentine, who can be found on TikTok at @rachelvalentinehair, unveiled the list of wrong hair myths during one of her recent videos – and said she thought people would be shocked to discover the truth.

She told her 15,900 social media followers: “Here are five hair myths that you will be surprised are a myth.”

Rachel then revealed: “Number one, your hair can get used to the same shampoo.”

She then debunked the myth that you can repair your split ends, saying this wasn’t true.

Rachel continued: “If you pluck one grey hair out, two wil grow in its place.”

The fourth common misconception when it comes to hair is that “colour will take better on dirty hair.”

As Rachel predicted, many of her TikTok followers had no clue that these statements were all false.
