WITH the cost-of-living crisis affecting many households up and down the country, chances are you haven't got much spare cash floating around to splurge on items for your home.

The majority of us are looking for ways to save money where possible, and if that applies to you, we've got just what you need.

We spoke to Gemma Bird, also known as the Money Saving Mum, on the three bargain kitchen items that you can pick up from Dunelm, that will come in extremely handy, without breaking the bank.

The 40-year-old mum-of-two, who lives in Billericay, Essex, lives mortgage-free in a four-bedroom detached house, drives a Range Rover and jets off on multiple holidays a year to plush resorts in Mexico, Lapland and Dubai.

But Gemma isn’t an heiress or a lottery winner – no, she’s achieved this comfortable life despite never earning more than £25k a year.

The money-saver previously told Fabulous: “I’ve never earned more than £25,000 a year. I live and breathe deals. I don’t care how much money you have, people always love a bargain.

This money-saving mum is a big fan of Dunelm and said: “I think it’s a really good shop because they have a lot of things under one roof.

“You can look online or in magazines at expensive homes and then copy the ideas with bits in Dunelm – I used to do that a lot.

“I used to look at the Real Housewives’ homes – especially Lisa Vanderpump – and then go into shops like this and create what they’ve done.”

12 piece dinner set

The first item that Gemma recommends is a 12 piece dinner set.

It currently has 50% off and is just £9 for 12 items.

Gemma said: “For first time buyers, this is really good.”

This dinner set includes four dinner plates, four side plates and four bowls.

The set is a gorgeous green colour and the items have a glossy finish.

Gemma added: “A dinner set for £9 – you literally can’t go wrong!”

16 piece cutlery set

The second item that Gemma recommends is Dunelm’s 16 piece cutlery set.

This item is also in the sale and has 50% off – it is now only £2.50.

Gemma said: “A 16-piece cutlery set for only £2.50 – this is so cheap.”

This set contains knives, forks, desert spoons and teaspoons and is not only a modern design but is dishwasher friendly too.

Gemma explained: “If you’ve got guests coming over and you need some more cutlery, particularly with Christmas coming up, this will come in really handy”.

Three piece frying pan set

The final item that Gemma thinks is a great bargain is Dunelm’s three piece frying pan set.

This set also has 50% off and is just £7.50 for three brilliant pans.

Gemma said: “Three pans for £7.50 is a real bargain”.

These pans are suitable for use on all hob types, excluding induction hobs, and have a cool-touch for easy handling.
