THE summer holidays with the kids can be costly, especially in the cost of living crisis. 

But there are many tips and tricks to keep the spending down, whilst still having fun. 

And mum Casey Major-Bunce has revealed a great money saving trick for when parents are taking the kids on a plane journey. 

Casey, who goes by the name of majormumhacks on Instagram, has show her trick and people can’t believe they never thought of it themselves. 

In the video caption, she wrote: “I hate plane food and it always costs so much money so we always take pot noodles and pasta pots for us.

“The kids, the majority of airlines will give you free hot water and some charge 50p to £1 but as a family of 6 it saves us at least £30 on plane food that is perfect for the summer holidays enjoy.”

And in the video, she showed exactly how it’s done. 

Casey said: “Next time you fly, you need to try this. Take yours and your kids' favourite pots with you and just ask for boiling water.”

The video attracted thousands of likes, with many other parents rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.

"I take pot noodles and porridge pots for the hotel room as we usually go all inclusive and don’t have a kitchen in the room!”

Casey also added another surprising hack in the comments section. 

She wrote: “Also take porridge for morning flights.

“You have to be careful taking a pot noodle that has sauce in it (isn’t all dry) .

"Sometimes they ask you to remove the sauce as they need to check the liquid.

“So take one with no liquid.” 

Another mum added: “Omg I never knew this. Me and my daughter are vegetarian and sometimes the options are pretty limited, this is definitely a game changer.”

However, it’s important to note that this may not apply to all airlines.
