I’m a pest control expert – how to banish pesky ants from your home for good for as little as £1.50 | The Sun

A PEST control expert has revealed three easy ways to banish ants for good.

Whether they are in your home or garden, ants can be pesky insects to get rid of.

But pest control experts revealed their top tips for identifying their nests and how to destroy them.

Jonathan Kirby, a pest control expert from NOPE! told the Express: "To identify ant nests, search for ants outside of your property, around the garden, in between paving cracks and under rocks and stones.

“You may be able to spot dirt mounds at the entrance to their tunnels, and can set bait traps nearby.”

To stop ants from making their way into the home, make sure to properly store sugary foods away and keep floors clean.

Pest control expert Jordan Foster of Fantastic Pest Control first recommended using talcum powder, which can be purchased for just £1.50 from Boots.

To use talcum powder to eradicate ants, fill in cracks around the home where ants typically get in.

He said: “Talcum or baby powder is a safer alternative for pets and kids, and diatomaceous earth can be used for carpenter ants and other pests.”

Although the method won't kill ants, it will stop them from coming into your home by disrupting the pheromone trails left behind by other ants.

Lastly, Jonathan Kirby revealed the best way to deal with an ant infestation is to attack the nest.

He recommended using bait traps, such as NOPE! Ant Bait Stations, near dirt mounds to reach the colony efficiently.

The pest control expert added: "This will prevent eggs, larvae, and pupae from growing into adults, and eradicate an entire ant infestation within a couple of weeks.”
