I’m an animal whizz & here are the best & worst breeds for first-time owners – don’t be fooled by a popular ‘cute’ pooch | The Sun

IF you are thinking of getting your first dog but aren’t sure which breed to choose, then you’ll need to listen up.

An animal whizz has revealed the best and worst breeds for first-time owners, so it’s important you take notes.

Posting on TikTok under the username @pup_labs, the dog expert shared his clip on the social media app with the caption ‘Want a dog but you're a beginner? This breed is for you!’

The animal whizz explained that while Rottweilers look cute and cuddly, they can be very aggressive and therefore aren't suitable for first-time dog parents.

He said: “If you're new to dogs, here are the worst and best breed types to get.

“So the worst type is a Rottweiler.

“Rottweilers, yes, they're cute and cuddly, but they are very aggressive and difficult to train.

“They need a strong leader and someone who is very convicted in their training abilities, and if you're new, that's a very, very tough job.”

He then revealed that the best breed for those looking for their first dog, particularly those with children, is the Labrador Retriever.

He explained that Labrador Retrievers are not only easy to train but are a very smart breed too.

He added: “And the best dog breed, of course, is the Labrador Retriever.

“The Labrador Retriever is very family friendly, it's easy to train, it's smart enough to learn the tricks and go potty on its own.

“It's an amazing, family friendly dog.”

However, social media users were quick to disagree with the man’s claims, particularly when it came to Rottweilers.

One person said: “Rottweiler’s are the best.”

Another added: “That is a lie! I got my first dog a year ago, a Rottweiler, and I have never struggled with her.”

Whilst a third commented: “There is no such thing as a good dog vs a bad dog… Seriously all dogs are worthy of love.”

Meanwhile, someone else posted: “[It’s] difficult to train most dogs on the planet.
