SKIMS'S shapewear line is designed to sculpt the body in a flattering way – but for one midsize woman, it seemed to have the opposite effect.
Not only did she struggle to put it on, but it highlighted her figure in the worst ways possible.
"I haven't seen too many Skims midsize body try ons, so I got the dress – that really long one that everyone loves – and I'm going to try it without [any] shapewear and [then] with Skims shapewear," a woman that goes by @squishzilla on TikTok said in a video.
The midsize woman is usually anywhere from a size eight to 12, stands at 5ft 8in, and is about 189 pounds.
First, she tried on the Skims Soft Lounge Long Slip Dress ($78) without any shapewear.
"Okay, here it is. No shapewear. I've always had a little bit of a belly that does not go in – but the material is super nice, super soft. And you could scrunch it up a little bit to make it hide a little bit of the belly action going on," she said.

Hopeful, she then tried the dress on with some Skims shapewear to show the difference.
"Okay, I'm not going to lie, that was the worst workout ever trying to put on the shapewear. I got like a large and extra large in everything.
"I kind of hate it with the shapewear. It just gives me super hard edges. I like it more natural, cause I feel like I get these hard edges on my hips.
"And it kind of rolls down and doesn't go back up, so it gives me a little bit [of] like fat rolls."

She switched back out of the shapewear and felt much better.
"This is it without the shapewear again. I definitely like it a lot better. It's just more comfortable. The material [of the dress] is super comfy, and I really like it," she said.
"Out of 10 I give it like seven and a half. Because it looks so amazing on some people, and it definitely squeezes you in, but it's not like magic you know. Like you want it to be magic but it's not.
"But overall I give Skims a ten out of ten because all their stuff is super soft, super comfy. I'm wearing the scoop neck bra right now and it's the comfiest bra I've ever had in my life.
"And I got the short length version of this dress and I love it too, but this long [one] is really pretty. And I definitely love the shape it gives me. But yeah, that's it overall."
