Mum-of-22 Sue Radford reveals how much it really costs to kit out the kids with new school uniform for September | The Sun

HAVING kids is expensive, so imagine what it’s like for mum-of-22 Sue Radford.

Lancashire-based Sue, 47, who is mum to Britain’s biggest family, revealed the whopping cost of kitting her kids out for new school uniforms for September.

Sue and husband Noel, 51, appeared on Channel 5’s 22 Kids And Counting and showed what it’s like going uniform shopping for nine of their kids.

Every September for the past 20 year or so years, a new Radford has started primary school – and so the summer holidays are an expensive time.

Noel said: “We’ve got the uniforms to sort out, the school shoes which we get once a year.

“The school bill is horrendous.

The bill in the shop came to a whopping £277.96, and they also had to order £140 of extra clothing to be delivered into the store, totalling £417.96.

Noel said: “I love paying for school uniforms.”

Sue joked: “Just don’t look at your bank balance and you’ll be fine.”

Over the years they have bought hundreds of new school uniforms, and don’t like to do hand-me-downs.

Sue said: “Sometimes you can reuse their PE kit as it still fits them from the year before.

“Definitely not the uniforms, we like to get new ones.”

Noel added: “Sue especially is conscious that we have lots of kids and we don’t want them to feel that because they come from a big family, they should be handed down clothes.”

For breakfast, the kids eat four litres of milk and two boxes of cereal, and with nine kids in three different schools, doing the drop offs can be tough.
