Coronation Street star Jane Danson – who first joined the soap as Leanne Battersby in 1997 – has been celebrating her husband’s birthday on Instagram.
Surrounded by brightly-coloured Happy Birthday balloons, you might not at first recognise the smiling face of Jane’s husband, but you will certainly have seen him before.
Robert Beck is one of those actors who’s been in everything. Starting his soap career in Brookside, he played rapist Peter Harrison. His two year stint with the Liverpool-based soap was soon followed by a spell in Emmerdale, in which he played Gavin Ferris. Gavin was in a relationship with Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles), but they eventually split up after she discovered the latest of his numerous affairs with other people when she caught him kissing Tricia Stokes (Sheree Murphy)’s boyfriend Jason Kirk (James Carlton).

The next soap to be added to Robert’s portfolio (apart from a one-off appearance in Waterloo Road) was Coronation Street. In 2008 and 2009 he played Jimmy Dockerson – the man Tony Gordon (Gray O’Brien) hired to kill Liam Connor (Rob James-Collier).
Robert has more recently played Fergus Collins in Hollyoaks. Corrupt businessman Fergus met a spectacular end to his reign of terror when he was hit over the head with a champagne bottle by Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson).
Although he seems to generally play baddies, Robert looks a mile away from his hard-man TV incarnations in the birthday snap. Jane has posted the message, ‘Happy 54th birthday @robertbeck529 then, now and always ❤️❤️❤️ while Jane’s on-screen sister Georgia Taylor has commented, ‘I can’t deal with how cute you both are!! 😍❤️’
