While Kate, Princess of Wales is known for wearing a lot of sapphires, including her mega 12-carat engagement ring, she also owns several jewellery items that showcase semi-precious stones. November’s birthstones are topaz and citrine, two gems the future Queen Consort has been known to don for glitzy occasions in the past.

Kate owns several pieces by jeweller Kiki McDonough, including a pair of topaz and diamond earrings.

Jewellery experts Austen and Blake said: “The Princess is a clear fan of wearing topaz earrings to formal events both day and night.

“For the Royal Ascot races, the Princess was seen to round up her blue outfit with beautiful blue dangling topaz earrings.

“From one of the Princess’ favourite jewellery designers, Kiki McDonough, these beautiful blue stones are surrounded by white diamonds, seamlessly bringing the outfit together.”

Like many gemstones, blue topaz has layers of meaning including “strength and wisdom”, according to the experts.

“Blue topaz is seen to help connect oneself better with their inner selves to communicate one’s truths and desires as well as symbolise loyalty and love, clear reflections of the Princess’ charming character,” they added.

Kate has also previously flaunted a pair of topaz and diamond earrings in a chandelier style to the premiere of the James Bond movie ‘Spectre’ in 2015.

These earrings were made by the Middleton family’s go-to jeweller, Robinson Pelham.

Touchingly, these earrings were previously worn by Kate’s mum Carole to the royal wedding reception in 2011.

As well as many topaz pieces, Kate also owns some statement citrine jewellery.

In the Princess’ jewellery collection is a jaw-dropping yellow citrine ring that she’s worn to notably to two major events.

The jewellery experts at Austen and Blake explained: “As well as being a fan of topaz jewellery, the Princess of Wales is also known for her beautiful citrine ring which she wore to both the James Bond premiere for ‘No Time To Die’, as well as to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.”

They added: “Citrine irradiates pale yellow hues just as would be expected from a gemstone named after the French word for lemon, citron.

“Just like its yellow hue, citrine is associated with positivity, joy and prosperity, evoking a joyous reaction when looked upon.”

To complement its cheerful hue, Kate has been known to don the ring while wearing gold or yellow outfits.

At the ‘No Time To Die’ premiere last year, the citrine ring perfectly matched Kate’s gold sequin dress by Jenny Packham.

And at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018, Kate wore the ring alongside her beloved pale yellow Alexander McQueen coatdress.

Kate’s also worn the piece ring with a striking yellow dress while attending Wimbledon in 2018.

While some reports have indicated the ring was a ‘push present’ from Prince William, it is now thought the ring has belonged to Kate for years.

She was pictured wearing the glistening gem before she was royal as a 20-something working in London.
