Queen Camilla dazzles in blue and very unique brooch for ballet

Queen Camilla, who is the patron of Elmhurst, met students, staff and alumni at Elmhurst Ballet School, in Birmingham, today. She later unveiled a plaque marking the centenary with Principal Jessica Ward and took lovely photographs with some of the dancers.

Camilla has been patron of Elmhurst since 2006, which was one of her first patronages after her marriage to King Charles.

For today’s event, Camilla chose one of her favourite dresses which she combined with her go-to black knee-high boots.

For jewellery, the Queen Consort donned a pair of maxi pearl drop earrings, some of her favourite bracelets from Van Cleef & Arpels and a very unique brooch.

The “ballerina” pin, also by designer Van Cleef & Arpels, is worth £72,000 and Queen Camilla has sported the piece to attend other dancing events before.

The Bouton d’or Ballerina Clip is made of 18k yellow gold and contains diamond, lapis lazuli and turquoise stones.

Featuring the shape of a ballerina, the brooch was the most appropriate jewellery choice for today’s engagement.

The designer described the jewel on the website as a “feminine” piece that plays with colours to create the most unique brooch.

“The Bouton d’or collection is inspired by the curved lines of the paillette motif, a jewellery design created by Van Cleef & Arpels in the late 1930s.”
