A vintage clothes seller, who triples her money by selling car boot sale finds on Depop, has revealed her top tips to bag a bargain.

Becky Chorlton, from Lymm, Cheshire, owns Becky’s Bazaar, which focuses on selling vintage clothing items online.

She regularly shares videos on her TikTok and Instagram showing off designer items that she has picked up for as little as 50p.

Speaking to The Sun she revealed her top tips to bag a bargain in a car boot sale including ‘don’t be afraid to haggle’ and to ‘network with sellers’.

She said: ‘Join Facebook groups for local car boot sales so you know what time they start and if they’re still going ahead due to weather disruptions.’

Secondly, Becky said it’s vital to take your own bags as you don’t want to be stuck carrying everything. 

Another tip was to have an idea of how much you want to pay for an item before you ask the seller for a price. 

She also said don’t be afraid to haggle saying: ‘If they’re wanting slightly more than you’re willing to pay there’s no harm in haggling a little bit – don’t be afraid of rejection!’ 

While her fourth tip was to network with the sellers to see if they had more items at home.

She said: ‘If a particular stall has certain items for sale you’re interested in get chatting to the seller – ask them if they have any more and would be willing to make a deal.’

Her final and most important tip was to not be afraid to ‘rummage’ through the piles of clothes as there might be good items buried. 

Becky usually triples or even quadruples her money from selling car boot sale items, saying she once made over £500 from one trip.

In the clip, which racked up over 32,000 views, she found a colourful vintage jumper which she will resell online 

However she did admit that a lot of work goes into getting the clothes ready for resale, including washing, stain removal, repair, ironing and shipping.

She recently shared a video on TikTok to showcase how she rummages through the sales. 

She wrote: ‘Here is everything I found in the 50p pile at the car boot.’ 

In the clip, which racked up over 32,000 views, she found Ralph Lauren shorts, Dickies trousers, dungarees, dickies trousers, a vintage jumper and a pair of Le Coq Sportif joggers.
