All you need to know about Black Friday 2022 – from date to expert tips

There are less than three months to go in 2022, and as much as people don’t like to think about it, Christmas is just around the corner.

Many will already be planning how to manage their expenses during this year’s holiday season, especially with a cost of living crisis biting down on the nation.

Luckily, the Black Friday deals can be an easy way to grab some discounted items and gifts to help you.

There are some expert tips to maximise the deals and ensure you don’t miss out on anything you might otherwise want.

Here is everything you need to know about Black Friday 2022.

What is the date of Black Friday 2022?

Black Friday usually happens on the same date each year – on the Friday after the annual US Thanksgiving holiday. That means Black Friday always falls on the last Friday of November.

This year Black Friday will take place on November 25, with Cyber Monday happening on November 28.

Deals will start pouring in in the weeks before these dates though, so thrifty shoppers should start looking out for them imminently.

They usually start from the end of October and there are no signs pointing to a shorter deal period this year.

Which retailers are predicted to be involved?

No announcements have been made so far for Black Friday 2022, but the usual assortment of chains will likely be involved.

One of the biggest contributors to the deals is Amazon, with Prime members being offered some of the best deals in flash sales that perpetually run throughout the period.

ASOS, AO.com, Dell, eBay, Very, HP, John Lewis, Currys, Argos and Boots all took part in Black Friday 2021, so shoppers should expect them to announce deals soon.

One supermarket chain that isn’t expected to take part in Black Friday is Aldi, as last year it rejected the idea of it.

In 2021, a spokesperson said: “We believe great prices should be offered every day, not just a Friday.

“Aldi’s prices are always unbeatable – whether it’s Black Friday, or any other day of the year.”

Expert tips for Black Friday

To beat out the rest of the hungry shoppers looking for the best deals, there are some ways to get ahead of the chaos.

Join Amazon Prime

Across Black Friday and in the weeks leading up to it, Amazon offers Lightning Deals to all its users.

However, if you are an Amazon Prime subscriber, you will gain access to these deals 30 minutes before everyone else.

Even better, if you are currently not a subscriber, you can sign up to a free 30 day trial before Black Friday.

This will give you access to the early offers without being charged an additional cost for the privilege.

You can sign up for a Amazon Prime free trial via its website.

Prepare a list

Black Friday can be overwhelming, with online outlets and high street stores bombarding you with offers and last-minute deals.

This is a breeding ground for impulse purchases, leading many to leave Black Friday with a load of junk they never wanted in the first place.

However, if you prepare a list of the things you want and need before the deals start pouring in, you can use it to navigate through the chaos.

It may even help you save money, as you will focus on the things you actually want.

You will be far less tempted to click buy on any useless tat that only looks appealing because there is a 50% off sign stamped over it.

Don’t just look for the latest items

As is always the case, retailers are looking to shift their older product to make room for the newest items.

Most of these products are just as good as the new items though, so you can pick up a great deal by watching out for these older pieces.

If you are in the market for a new phone, for example, check for the previous model during the Black Friday deals.

More than likely there will be a bigger saving on it, with less people battling to claim it.
