Baywatch to return after 22 years – Where the original cast are now

One of the most iconic TV shows starring David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson is thought to be making a triumphant comeback.

Baywatch, the American series that aired on ITV during the 80s and 90s, could return to our screens for a new series filled with beach drama and lifeguarding looks.

The show set on the beaches of LA County and later Hawaii proved a massive teatime hit and became one of the most watched programmes in the world.

It aired in September 1989, before running for 11 series until 2001 with millions tuning in each week.

It brought global recognition to the likes of Carmen Electra, Yasmine Bleeth and Jason Momoa with David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson becoming the well-known faces of the beach drama.

Now after 22 years, British TV giant Fremantle is developing a reboot of the series, according to Deadline.

It has been said they have "held early talks" with "a number of broadcasters and streamers" about creating the new series.

As the anticipation rises for the return of the hit TV show – famous for its slow-motion running shots and dramatic lifeguarding scenes – we take a look at where some of the original cast are now.

However, on September 12, 2001, Yasmine was arrested after she drove her car off the highway as she and her future husband, Paul Cerrito, were heading to Detroit Metropolitan Airport. No other cars were involved.

Police found four syringes with an injectable form of cocaine in them and a small plastic bag with cocaine residue on it. The next day police conducted a search of her hotel room, where they discovered more cocaine and drug paraphernalia. In November 2001, through a plea bargain, she pleaded guilty to possessing less than 25 grams of cocaine and to driving while impaired. She was sentenced in January 2002 to two years of probation and 100 hours of community service.

In an issue of Glamour from April 2003, Yasmine wrote a three-page article titled "Back from My Drugs Hell" about her rocky path to recovery, her cocaine addiction, and her struggle to remain sober. She wrote that her cocaine habit was so severe that she collapsed at a photo shoot for Glamour, and she went without sleep for five days at a time. She wrote that "consciously trying to stay off drugs is now part of my life and always will be".

After some time out, Yasmine made a comeback to acting and starred in the comedy Whack the Don in 2021.
