I'm a proposal planner and here are some of my clients' wildest asks

Professional proposers who have arranged 3,500 engagements all over the world say the super rich spend up to £800,000 popping the big question.

Daisy Amodio, 40, from Balham, London, became a professional proposal planner after she helped her brother, Danny Amodio , 36, plan his when he asked his now-wife, Annie Amodio, 32, to marry him in 2016.

Realising she was good at pulling it off, Daisy set up her own business and now she has a team of seven who have planned proposals in London, Paris, Dubai, New York and Zanzibar.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Daisy predicts an influx of last minute proposals and already has 11 planned for the most romantic day of the year.

Packages start at £1,000 but bespoke customised packages are priced on how extravagant the customer’s requests are.

Daisy has once lit up the whole of Times Square in New York with photographs of the couple and has also beamed ‘will you marry me?’ onto Niagara Falls.

The proposal expert claims she has a ‘100 per cent success rate’ and never witnessed anyone say no.

She says most of her clients are straight men who want beautiful views, candles and violinists.

Her most memorable proposals include abseiling down a cave in the Lake District to set up a candlelit dinner, a prank drug arrest, a porn star proposal and a cat-themed ceremony.

Daisy, who runs Proposal Planners said: ‘Essentially our job is making people happy and helping them make the first major milestone in their life.

‘It’s a major deal, there’s a quite a lot of pressure. We just create personalised moments tailored to that couple and it takes us all over the world.’

Daisy found her calling when she helped her brother, Danny, plan his proposal 12 years ago.

She added: ‘He didn’t know what to do. I planned this huge treasure hunt around London, and he proposed at sunset – she said yes.

Daisy also set up this stunning proposal with lots of red balloons and a view over London’s Tower Bridge

The team ensure they individualise each engagement to the client and no request is too bizarre or difficult to achieve

‘I thought: ‘Wouldn’t this be a fun job?”

Daisy started Proposal Planners in April 2012 and now has a team of seven women – who have planned 3,500 proposals all over the world.

One of her priciest proposals cost £800, 000 and took the team all over the world.

‘The client wanted his face beamed on the Eiffel Tower but this wasn’t possible, so I called Disney Paris and we hired the castle out to have fireworks,’ she said.

‘They hired a private jet to do something different on every continent.

‘In Times Square he wanted to do a prank, so we had dressed up NYPD cops and got them to say ‘you’re illegal, show us your passport’ and then all the screens changed to photos of them.

She says most of her clients are straight men who want beautiful views, candles and violinists including this stunning set up in a London park

Daisy claims the most popular locations to pop the question for her clients are Dubai, London, Paris and Iceland

She once set up a gorgeous marque for a picnic in the Dubai desert under the stars complete with a camel

Another pretty set up in Dubai showed ‘will you marry me’ spelled out in candels on the sand

‘The proposal finished in Niagara Falls with their faces and ‘will you marry me?’ beamed onto the water.’

The team ensure they individualise each engagement to the client and no request is too bizarre or difficult to achieve.

Daisy said: ‘A man came to me and said how much his partner loved Cats. I hired a cat cafe in Shoreditch, and I made 50 cat outfits that waiters wore.

‘We had a jazz singer performing a Cats song and a dance.’

In 2016, Daisy helped a porn star pop the big question to his fellow porn star lover.

She said: ‘We displayed naked photos of them all over the room in a very pretty way.’

Another proposal showed a ‘marry me’ sign lit up in a room full of red balloons overlooking the London skyline

She decorated one hotel room with hundreds of white balloons and a slew of candles with an incredible view in the background

Daisy’s tips for the perfect proposal

Location, location, location – it doesn’t have to be an expensive place, but somewhere that is important to you both

Be thoughtful – the little things matter, it doesn’t have to cost the world it just needs to mean a lot to you both

Capture the moment – whether you have a professional photographer, videographer or a friend

Try and make sure she has her nails done

Plan what you’re going to say – even though the woman never remembers, which is why it’s good to have a video and don’t put it on Instagram before you’ve told your family

Some clients don’t take the romantic route and would rather scare their girlfriends before getting down on one knee.

Daisy said: ‘Once we planted oregano on a woman as fake marihuana. Dressed up undercover cops manhandled into the cry, and she was crying her eyes out.

‘They led her to a line-up of suspects and her partner was there to propose.’

Another time, Daisy abseiled down a cliff in the Lake District, through mud and water with a backpack and a table, chairs, candles and champagne attached to her.

She said: ‘The man said how much she loved going caving and I was terrified. So, I abseiled down with a huge rucksack, a table, chairs and champagne.

‘I had to army crawl through mud and water. It looked beautiful in the end.’

Daisy claims the most popular locations to pop the question for her clients are Dubai, London, Paris and Iceland.

She said: ‘This is a busy time of year we have 11 proposals planned for Valentine’s Day.

‘Most men get the ring and just have no idea how to do it and need our help and they put in so much effort.

‘I’ve only seen one proposal where the man hasn’t got down on one knee – 95 per cent of proposals are male on female, 5 per cent are same sex and I’ve helped three women propose to men.’
