Love Island stars share emotional family reunions as they return to the UK

After two months away from their nearest and dearest, this year’s Love Island finalists were finally reunited with their loved ones in an emotional family reunion at Heathrow airport.

Samie Elishi, Tom Clare, Tanya Manhenga and Shaq Muhammad were the first stars to arrive home, and were all greeted by their proud parents and relatives, as they jetted back to the UK from South Africa following Monday’s Love Island final.

Rows of anxiously awaiting relatives were ready and waiting when the plane finally touched down in terminal three, with the quartet of stars receiving a hugely warm reception when they wandered through customs following a lengthy 12 hour flight.

Leading the pack for the celebratory welcome home was Tanya’s family, who had even created a homemade pink banner to greet the biomedical science student upon her return.

Grinning from ear to ear, Tanya shared a glimpse at the celebration on Instagram, as posed alongside beau Shaq and her mum, who couldn’t be happier to see the pair safely back on UK soil.

Sharing a clip of the encounter on social media, Tanya revealed there were plenty of screams and cheers in the background as she and Shaq delightedly reunited with their families.

Meanwhile, Samie was greeted instead by her best friend Abbey Allen, who took to her own Instagram story to delightedly share how happy she was to finally be reunited with her BFF.

Tom’s parents, Maxine and Jonathan also made the trip to the airport to greet their returning son, as they shared a sweet moment with the professional football player on his return.

Accompanied by his pals Oliver Wilde, Ben Summers and Alice Ogden, the small group proudly waved their banner as they awaited the return of their absent friend.

Shortly after the arrival of the first few Islanders, the show's winners Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan also headed back to the Uk, where they were greeted by an elated group of friends and family, who had come prepared to welcome the victorious couple home.

Armed with banners and balloons, loud cheers could be heard throughout the terminal as the couple posed with their arms around each other, clearly smitten in the early stages of their blossoming romance.

The couple won the show during this week's final and decided to split the prize money of £50,000 between them, so that they could donate a large portion to charities of their choice.

While at the airport, Kai also took a moment to pose with runner-up Ron Hall, as the duo shared a cheeky selfie together in a sweet social media post.

The return to the UK comes just one week after the Islanders came face to face with some of their relatives during the iconic meet the parents episode of the ITV2 dating show last weekend.

During the family reunion, Tanya’s mum Polite and her auntie Cynthia jetted off to South Africa to the villa to meet Tanya and Shaq for the very first time.

“We’ve seen you guys from the start, we’ve seen you grow, we’ve seen you fall out, we’ve seen you pick up the pieces, we’ve seen you make up and to me, that’s love,” exclaimed Cynthia.

Meanwhile Samie’s mum Wendy and her sister Courtney also entered the villa, to meet their daughter’s new beau, while Tom’s mum Maxine and his sister Laura were keen to meet Samie for themselves.

While on the show, Wendy claimed that she’d never Samie ever behave like she had done in the show, with the villa clearly bringing out the best in her.

“He’s so lovely, he absolutely adores you Samie and you really like him don’t you?” quizzed Samie’s mum.

The bombshell herself also went on to win Tom’s sister Courtney’s seal of approval as his protective sibling noted: "She’s unbelievable, you make such a good couple, how affectionate you are with each other, you’re always looking for each other, it’s just so nice to see. I think she’s the one for you.”
