McDonalds from 1980s looks different from fast food restaurant today

McDonald's has changed a lot in the years.

Not only does the chain alter its menu every six weeks, it's often transforming the restaurant too.

And recently people only started realising the "disturbing" reason why Ronald McDonald got sidelined.

Now if you're wondering what McDonald's looked like around 30-40 years ago, we have just the picture.

Thanks to one Reddit user, a lot of people were taken back into time to see what the chain looked like in the 1980s.

In the image, it showed coloured chairs to match the famous "Golden Arches" we know and love today.

There's also a cartoon image of a palm tree with big eyes and a grin.

Even Ronald McDonald is appearing in the background on some of the artwork on the walls.

Looking at a McDonald's chain from today is completely different to what it was in the past.

Instead of the colourful chairs, nowadays you'll see grey and metal stools with white benches.

Forget the tree and artistic walls, there's self-service kiosks so customers can order their food away from the counter.

The colour scheme is also changed as it's white and wooden all over, with a few yellow chairs.

Since it was shared on Reddit on Friday morning, it racked up over 61,800 upvotes and 3,600 comments.

A lot of people felt as though chains back then were more colourful than they are today.

One said: "Every fast food place looks the f***ing same and it's boring as hell. Not inviting at all."

Another added: "Restaurants feel sterile and cold these days, usually smaller and less crowded too."

A third commented: "It was so inviting and colourful, now it's bland and sterile."

However, one joked: "I'm just glad I don't have a tree staring me down while I try to eat."
