McDonald’s slashes cost of popular menu items by almost 70% – for one day only

McDonald's is slashing the cost of classic menu items for one day only.

On Monday (June 12), customers can bag a Double McMuffin for just £1.99, which saves you £1.60.

Fast food fans can choose between bacon or sausage to go with a free range egg, slice of cheese and toasted English muffin buns.

Or if they go to Maccies later on in the day, they can save almost 70% off the Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

This is a £2.90 saving on the menu item that consists of a 100% beef quarter-pound patty, two slices of cheese, onions, pickles, mustard, ketchup and a sesame seed bun.

To redeem the deal, you must do so via the McDonald's app.

The application allows you to earn rewards points for every penny spent.

This week’s offers will get you 199 points when grabbing a Double McMuffin® and 149 points when picking up a Quarter Pounder® with Cheese.

When customers reach 1,500 points, they can choose between menu items including small fries, a hash brown or side salad.

With 2,500 points, a Double Cheeseburger or Vegetable Deluxe can be redeemed.

Or with 4,000 points, they can pick between menu favourites like six Chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac.

In other McDonald's news, some popular treats were recently ditched from the menu.

And why not take a look inside the ''world's most beautiful Maccies', which has its own wooden beams and a clock tower.
