Gabbie Egan, who is now 22, said her followers ask her the backstory behind falling pregnant so young all the time. The mum shared a photo of her and her son in the hospital after she gave birth to him in 2014 (left). She said the story behind her being 13 and pregnant was meeting and falling for a 16-year-old when she was very young.

‘I was 13 years old, I was naive and I started dating this 16-year-old guy,’ she explained.

Gabbie was in year seven and the father of her child was in year 10 when they met.

‘He got me pregnant then left, and pretty much hasn’t been a part of my son’s life  ever since,’ she said.

‘Don’t be a teen mum okay, because your baby daddy ain’t going to be sh**t,’ she added.

Gabbie explained that her son needs two rounds of braces, which cost $4,000, and his biological father won’t contribute to the cost.

‘I was like “baby daddy, you gonna split it with me?” and he was like, “I’m not going to pay for a kid I don’t see”.’

Hundreds of people sympathised with the mum’s situation, and praised her for raising a child on her own from such a young age.

‘He got it wrong, you pay for a kid you don’t see. Either you’re going to be a dad, or you pay me to do the job of two parents,’ one woman said.

‘I’m glad you guys grew together and made it,’ another wrote.

‘At 13 I was struggling to learn algebra, I couldn’t imagine having a child,’ another commented.
